The Morris County Office of Temporary Assistance reports the state has committed to issuing an additional amount of food stamps to all food stamps households that received food stamps in October 2012 in order to help replace food lost during the recent hurricane based on an agreement with Morris County.

Every food stamp “SNAP” household active in October will receive an additional amount equal to 30 percent of the amount they received in October, according to the OTA.

The issuance will be automatic, and an application for this benefit need not be completed, nor is it necessary to come to or call the agency to receive these benefits.

According to the OTA, the benefit will be automatically added to a family’s first account “on” Nov. 16, when the state system will automatically issue the benefit.
