The Morris County Park Police’s National Night Out returns to Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township on Tuesday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Fire, police and rescue units from across the county will be on hand to demonstrate a wide range of skills and to raise public awareness about the multitude of services that are available to Morris County residents.
“Our goal is to educate the public in crime prevention practices,” said Park Police Lt. David B. Doyle. “We also want criminals to know that through community and police partnerships such as National Night Out we in Morris County act as a team in the fight against crime.”
Scores of representatives from the United States Army and Coast Guard, FBI, Secret Service and dozens of municipal, county and state law enforcement agencies will be participating in the event, and the Morris County Park Police will be registering youngsters in its free Child ID program.
Those attending will be able to investigate and explore essential police and fire equipment and emergency vehicles ranging from motorcycles to fire engines. The horses of the Morris County Park Police’s award winning Mounted Equestrian Unit will also be on hand for mounted demonstrations, and there will be a police motorcycle show and demonstration, entertainment and free hot dogs and soda.
