The Morris County Department of Human Services Office of Temporary Assistance is seeking donations of gift cards for those impacted by Hurricane Irene and the subsequent flooding.
When a Disaster Recovery Center opens in Morris County, OTA would like to have its staff distribute the gift cards, especially to those who may not be eligible for emergency food stamps or other benefits, said Gary Denamen, OTA director.
“We are looking for gift cards from stores such as Wal-Mart, Target and local grocery stores,” Denamen said. “Any denomination is welcome, but smaller denominations are preferable so that we can help as many people as possible.”
The gift cards will go directly to flood victims in need through the Disaster Recovery Center, once such a center opens, he said.
The gift cards can be mailed to the Office of Temporary Assistance, 340 West Hanover Ave., Morristown, NJ, 07960, or they may be brought directly to the West Hanover Avenue location and dropped off at the front desk.
Additional information may be obtained by calling OTA at 973-326-7240.
