Demolition work is in full swing at the county-owned Washington Building at the corner of Washington Street and Schuyler Place in Morristown.
Heavy-duty wrecking equipment has been on the scene for the past few days tearing the building down.
In its place, the county plans to build a “pocket park” on the site, complete with some trees, shrubs and park benches.
The Washington Building, thought to have been built in 1957, is a former office building that had in recent years been used by the county as a storage facility. A study conducted several years ago on other possible uses for the former office building concluded that it would cost more to renovate the structure than it would to tear it down.
