The Morris County government, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., the Morristown Partnership, Morristown Medical Center, Hyatt Morristown, the Morris County Chamber of Commerce and the town of Morristown are working together to sponsor a countywide Workplace Blood Drive on Wednesday, July 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hyatt Morristown, 3 Headquarters Plaza in Morristown.

With blood shortages continuing to be a pressing issue this summer, the sponsoring agencies are urging businesses, offices and eligible Morris County citizens to participate by giving up an hour that day and donating blood.

Blood collected will help to supply the blood bank of Morristown Medical Center, formerly Morristown Memorial Hospital, which is a state-designated regional trauma center.

Blood drive organizers said walk-ins will be welcome, but they suggest that donors register in advance by calling Atlantic Health at 1-800-247-9580. Appointments may also be made by e-mail at [email protected]

When registering, donors should provide their name, address, telephone number, date of birth and employer. Donors should eat and drink fluids prior to donating blood, and they should also have with them a form of picture ID.

For questions regarding eligibility or other concerns please call, Loretta Ferrara, Blood Donor Recruiter, at 973-971-5747.
