The Morris County Library’s series of free Career Resource Seminars continues in August. The sessions are part of the library’s ongoing seminars for job seekers that are held at the library, 30 E. Hanover Ave., in Whippany, said Lynne Olver, library director.
The first session, Networking 101, will take place Monday, Aug. 1, from noon to 1:30 p.m. This seminar will touch on proven networking strategies and will offer some practical tips on identifying, expanding and utilizing personal contacts, Olver said.
Company Research for Job Seekers is the name of a seminar to be given Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. This session will provide a crash course in business research using library databases, many of which are available from a home computer. Olver said the county library also offers an extensive business reference center featuring industry directories and trade journals.
A third seminar, Online Job Applications, will be conducted Monday, Aug. 8, from noon to 1:30 p.m., and will focus on everything a person needs to know about applying for jobs online including entering data into online job applications, privacy issues and identity theft.
LinkedIn will be the topic of a seminar Monday, Aug. 15, from noon to 1:30 p.m. According to Olver, attendees will learn the basics of LinkedIn, a popular and fast growing social network for job seekers and companies.
