The Morris County Library’s series of free Career Resource Seminars continues in July. The sessions are part of the library’s ongoing seminars for job seekers that are held at the library, 30 E. Hanover Ave., in Whippany, said Lynne Olver, library director.
The first session, Local Resources for Job Seekers, is July 5 from noon to 1:30 p.m. This session will include a general introduction to county services, library resources, career networks and educational opportunities, Olver said.
The second seminar will revolve around LinkedIn, the fastest growing social network for job seekers and companies, and will be held July 13, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Attendees will learn the basics of LinkedIn, as well as how to create effective profiles, find contacts and search for jobs, Olver said.
Company Research for Job Seekers is the name of a seminar to be given July 18 from noon to 1:30 p.m. This session will provide a crash course in business research using library databases, many of which are available from a computer. The county library also offers an extensive business reference center featuring industry directories and trade journals, according to Olver.
Olver said an Internet Job Search Tips seminar July 23 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. is a strategy session that will focus on maximizing job search results on the Internet, identifying the “best” job webs, online applications and privacy concerns.
The Target Job Search is the theme of a July 25 career seminar from noon to 1:30 p.m. that will explain how to take a proactive role in a job search.
Space for each seminar is limited and registration is required, Olver said. Individuals may sign up for the entire series or a single session. To register, call the library at (973) 285-6969, or visit the library’s Web site, www.mclib.info.
