The Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders on Aug. 11 honored Reese Ronceray, the 9-year-old Washington Township youngster credited with saving a 5-year-old boy from drowning in a lake in Washington Township during a swim party June 5.

The freeholders presented Ronceray with a Certificate of Commendation that praised him for “acting swiftly and decisively” when he jumped in the water and pulled the young boy, who was struggling to keep his head above water, back to shore.

“Your heroic efforts are to be commended,” Freeholder Director Gene Feyl told Reese, who received a standing ovation from the freeholders.
