Morris County Clerk Joan Bramhall is advising anyone needing a new or renewed passport that the U.S. State Department increased passport fees nationwide July 13.
The passport fee for an adult age 16 and over went from $75 to $110, plus an additional $25 acceptance fee, making the total adult cost $135, Bramhall said.
For minors under the age of 16, the passport fee increased from $60 to $80 plus the additional $25 acceptance fee, for a total of $105, Bramhall said.
Adults 16 years of age and over needing their passports expedited have had that fee increase to $184.96 from $149.96, plus the $25 acceptance fee for a total of $209.96.
Minors under the age of 16 who want their passports expedited have incured a $20 fee increase to $154.96 plus the additional $25 acceptance fee, for a total of $179.96.
Bramhall noted the passport/expedited fee is payable only with a check made out to the U.S. State Department, while the acceptance fee must be paid in cash.
Individuals applying for a passport must bring with them proof of citizenship, including a birth certificate with a raised seal of the town or state of birth, or naturalization papers; two identical regulation color passport photos; and proof of identification, such as a valid driver’s license. Anyone wanting to renew a passport must also bring the old passport.
