The Morris County Library will be closed on Saturday due to the winter storm that is expected to hit Morris County overnight and into Saturday.
Also, the Morris County Park Commission has cancelled its planned Maple Sugaring Demonstration scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the at Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center in Chatham Township.
But parks officials say they still plan to go ahead with the Snowshoe Sunday event at Pyramid Mountain at 1 p.m. on Sunday. To check on Sunday about that program, please call Pyramid Mountain at 973-334-3130.
The National Weather Service in Mt. Holly has issued a Winter Storm Warning which will remain in effect from midnight tonight to 10 a.m. on Sunday. We still see a few varying opinions from the weather team with some of the current storm models having a lower than normal confidence forecast.
Periods of snow will likely begin after midnight this evening with some models suggesting a snow start time of 3am-6am Saturday morning and ending 12-2am on Sunday. Snowfall amounts of 4-11” are being forecasted along with potential wind gusts of 20-35mph.
A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected. Strong winds are also possible and travel may be hazardous.
During the storm, we urge motorists to stay off the roads unless you must travel. County road crews are prepared to deal with the situation, ready to tackle precipitation once it starts falling.
Snowfall and ice accumulation forecast maps in addition to experimental probabilistic snowfall information for this event are available atwww.weather.gov/phi/winter
We also encourage you to listen to the NOAA weather radio and check the above link for additional updates.
Stay warm and be safe!
